On Wednesday, the special court of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) granted bail to Karamjeet Singh Anand, who is an alleged drug peddler accused of the drug case related to late actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
The accused was freed on the bail based on the ground of a recently verdict by Supreme Court that the statement by a co-accused is not enough substantial evidence to put the other person under bar, in absence of more cogent evidence.
Anand was sent behind the bars on September 12 with other peddlers, as a result of a raid by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in both Mumbai and Goa. The NCB found 4g of hashish and 17 g of marijuana along with a cash of ₹5.50 lakh from Anand, he is also named as KJ in the world of drug syndicate.
The agency found that Anand is the main accused, who supply drug to the film industry through his network.
Apart from illegal seized contraband, other accused gave statement to the agency that Anand leads contraband.
The special court also provided bail to other drug peddlers named Suryadeep Malhotra and Ankush Arneja, as peddlers who works under same syndicate.
